On Independence Day, Charlene and Charles were married at the beautiful Purple Iris in Martinsburg, WV.

Sharda Senior Photos - May 20, 2009

My friend and former next door neighbor, Amanda, is a professional friend in Southeast Washington DC.  She is quite remarkable and just a wonderful person to mentor teenage girls.

Sharda is one of her girls and Amanda asked me to take her Senior photos.

I’ve never done Senior photos but I have seen them.  You know, laser backdrops, leaning on the big numbers, laying across the big numbers, hugging a tree awkwardly.  I was excited to do something different and make pictures that are anti-Senior photo-ish.  I wanted to make Sharda look and feel like she was on a magazine cover shoot (I haven’t done one of those yet but would LOVE to!).

Who knew Sharda would bring it and look well beyond her years?  No one in the room expected it and were just blown away!  Must have been some good mentoring!

In the immortal words of Rick Astley, Corey and Andy are “TOGETHER FOREVER!” (and no… I won’t Rick Roll you)

I headed to Cincinatti, Ohio to shoot their wedding in the beautiful Ault Rose Garden.

The wedding was small with 12 chairs set up for family and the rest of the guests standing by as Corey and Andy tied the knot.  The small theme continued at the reception, which was held in a park pavilion about 25 minutes away.

National Memorial Day Parade - May 25, 2009

The American Veteran’s Center asked me to photograph the largest Memorial Day in the country this year and I couldn’t have been happier to say yes to this wonderful opportunity.  With my little brother serving in the Army and my wife and sister-in-law both having served in the military, photographing events like these are no-brainers to me.

These men and women have fought so bravely and deserve our gratitude way more than a few times each year.

The parade passed by the National Archives where I was stationed and it made for a beautiful backdrop along with the giant American Flag draped across an ominous sky.  Have a look!
