SNAP!

Megan & Jason Married

October 05, 2007 | Pictage

What a FANTASTIC day!

It is so hard to describe the events of Megan and Jason’s wedding day.

I woke up so excited to shoot this wedding.  I had photographed Megan’s little sister’s wedding over a year earlier and the Whittington’s know how to throw a party.  Megan knew exactly what she wanted and she got it all.  She was relaxed and ready to be called Mrs. Jason Gibbons.

I spent most of the day with the ladies.  I met up with Megan and the girls at the salon just a few doors down from the Birkby house and got some photos of them getting their hair done.  After the bridesmaids had their hair done, Megan hopped in the chair to get her “princess” hair do, but before the hair could be done, it had to be teased.  I never knew a head of hair could get that big.

Afterwards, there was lunch waiting for us and the girls got their makeup done and got ready.  Then it was off to take some photos.  When we were finished, it was time to get photographs of the men.

I had heard earlier in the day that Jason was a little nervous, so I knew he would probably be a little stiff in the photos, so I would have to help loosen him up a bit.  Thank heavens for his groomsmen.  These guys were ready and cracked jokes the entire time we were taking photos and it helped for some really natural looking photographs.  I think the Yuengling helped too.

Finally, the ceremony began.

Then the ceremony ended.

Earlier in the summer, I shot a wedding in which the ceremony was just under 20 minutes.  Megan and Jason’s ceremony was just under 15.  It probably would have been closed to 10 minutes if their wasn’t 7 bridesmaids that had to walk in front of Megan.

There’s only one way to finish off a wedding and that’s to celebrate at the reception.  The food was excellent and the DJ, Megan’s brother-in-law, Chris, was told by the Birkby House staff that it was the best music mix of the wedding season.  He had the party dancing the entire night.  The only lull in the dancing was for the toasts.  The music had to be cut off so that people would go the other end of the tent to watch the cake cutting.

Megan and Jason, have fun on your honeymoon!  I hope you like the photos.  I can’t wait to show you the rest of the bunch.  There are too many favorites so I put up as many as I could.

There was this really cool old house down the road from the Birkby House.  The door fit perfectly with the colors of the wedding

It’s not a reception until there’s air guitar.  Thanks Journey!
