Tesla Motors Unveils Model S
TESLA Motors unveiled their new all-electric Model S Sedan on Wednesday evening at the National Building Museum in Washington DC.
I tweeted when I walked into the event and saw the car for the first time. I said, “It’s pretty.” I stand behind that tweet after learning a little more about the car.
According to cnet, “The Model S, which can go 0 mph to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds, has an electronically limited speed of 130 mph and can be recharged from any 120V, 208V, or 240V outlet. The car will be offered with a range of 160, 230, or 300 miles per charge, depending on which battery the buyer chooses, though Tesla has not yet said what the price difference will be for each package.”
The car starts at about $50,000 and runs on lithium-ion batteries, the same batteries that power most electronics nowadays. It’s a bit pricey, but, as gas prices rise, this vehicle could be an answer.
A lot of people asked the question, what if I wanted to drive across country? According to TESLA Motors CEO Elon Musk, with a 45 minute recharge, you can drive across country in about the same time it takes you in your regular car.
Have a look for yourself and be on the lookout for more from TESLA in the future.
